Railings, Ladders & Roof Access

Someone has to get up there. Make sure they get back down.

Every commercial roof eventually needs a maintenance crew, an HVAC tech, or a window-washing rig up there. Roof access is its own specialty, separate from the envelope itself — guardrails, caged ladders, hatches and anchor points, all built to code.

We design and install fall-protection systems that pass inspection and keep your people and your contractors safe, every time they go up.

What this covers.

The fall-protection and access systems that keep crews safe on a commercial roof.
GUARDRAILS

Guardrail systems

Roof-edge and platform guardrails installed to fall-protection code, permanent or removable.

LADDERS

Caged access ladders

Fixed caged ladders for safe vertical access to the roof, sized and mounted to spec.

HATCHES

Roof hatches

Roof hatch supply and install, integrated with the guardrails and ladder around it.

ANCHOR POINTS

Anchor points & bump lines

Fall-arrest anchor points and bump lines that mark the fall hazard zone before someone gets close to it.

COMPLIANCE

Fall-protection compliance

Systems designed and installed to meet Ontario OHSA and CSA fall-protection requirements.

AUDITS

Safety audits & upgrades

We audit existing roof-access systems and upgrade whatever no longer meets current code.

03 / SPECIALTY
Its own specialty

Roof access isn't an afterthought bolted on — it's designed as its own system, done right.

04 / DURABLE
Built for the climate

Galvanized and weather-rated hardware that holds up to Ottawa winters year after year.

Who we build for

Hydro One. School boards. Builders. Property management.

Capital Exterior is run by a tradesman, not a sales team. Our founder started Cover-Tite's metal division, then spent years at Flynn Canada before going out on his own — 15+ years in the building envelope trade.

Common questions

Straight answers, no runaround.

What codes do roof access and guardrail systems need to meet?

Guardrails, ladders and fall-protection systems are installed to the applicable Ontario OHSA and CSA fall-protection standards, so your maintenance crews and contractors are covered and compliant.

Do you install roof hatches?

Yes, roof hatches are part of our regular roof-access scope, along with the guardrails and ladders around them.

What is a bump line and do I need one?

A bump line is a low physical barrier set back from a roof edge that warns workers they're approaching a fall hazard. Many commercial roofs need one as part of a compliant fall-protection plan.

Can you upgrade an existing roof-access system?

Yes. We audit existing guardrails, ladders and anchor points and upgrade whatever doesn't meet current code.

What areas do you serve?

Ottawa and the region: Gatineau, Kanata, Orleans, Nepean, Stittsville and out toward Kemptville. If your site is in the NCR, ask us.
